Old Man and Old Woman from Andrzej Kondratiuk’s film aren’t that old at all. They live somewhere far away in wilderness, in an old house near the lake. He is a weirdo, a tireless inventor creating and various devices and machines that have already been invented by others. The both share their time between small everyday activities, far away from people they lead happy life surrounded by beautiful nature. Author’s film by Andrzej Kondratiuk has a simple message: it is a praise of life based on simple, basic values as symbiosis with nature, love, indulgence for others and trust.  The simplicity, naturalism and a kind of provincialism of this film achieved with absolute minimum of technical means was a novelty in a polish cinema, and that is how it inspired the whole mainstream of provincial cinema.
