“Divo” is a fascinating film portrait of Giulio Andreotti, one of the most unusual people of the twentieth century. Connected to Christian Democrats, Adreotti was the main player in Italian politics: a Minister in several governments and a three times Prime minister. A politician and a man full of mysteries, who could avoid objections from media, and despite many trials stay in the game. Paolo Sorrentino’s film begins just before the events that preceded the loss of immunity and the accusation of cooperation with Sicilian mafia and corruption of Andreotti. The director shows the background of one of the most important political trials.
