Peter Schaffer is one of the leading contemporary British playwrights, whose work already reached a few excellent film adaptations. This applies above all to Equus and Amadeus – the most famous of talented Englishman works, masterfully shot by Milos Forman. In Maciej Wojtyszko’s staging the title part of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart belongs to Zbigniew Zamachowski. In his interpretation the famous composer is a man full of inner conflicts: infantile, but sincere in feelings, rebellious, but emotionally addicted to his father, crude, but on the other hand refined in his music. An exquisite actor’s creation in Wojtyszka’s staging was also developed by Zbigniew Zapasiewicz as Antonio Salieri. The actor convincingly shows a rapid metamorphosis of the opportunist musician in an evil demon, entwining his victim with an intricate net of intrigues.
