Mick’s brother is preparing a birthday cake as a gift for his brother’s birthday. Soon after the candles are blown out, the first unexpected guests arrive. The birthday circle becomes the room for conflict and clash between opposing arguments.

Leaving Australia in 2001 he has made London his home, working solely as a film editor of companies such as Two-Four, Princess, RDF, Endemol, Zeppotron, Fever, ITV, Sky and of course the BBC. The Birthday Circle is his seventh short film. His short films Harry: The Story of an Urban Hermit and Wicked Youth won awards at the Queensland New Filmmaker Awards. Philip is an accredited member of the Guild of British Film and Television Editors.
