Venezuelan slums full of music
04/08/2011
“Slum Symphony”, a documentary by Cristiano Barbarossa, is another film from the Music – My Love cycle, providing insight into the situation of one of the South American states. Venezuela’s poorest districts are not doing too well, but there is a shadow of a chance that music will help children escape poverty. It is Barbarossa who made efforts to capture, on film, the hope for a better tomorrow.
Cristiano Barbarossa shot a documentary on a 250,000 community of children from the poorest districts and slums of Venezuela, who spend six evenings a week on learning classical music. The filmmaker has followed some of them continuously for five years, simultaneously following the social project in which children and youth strive for change in their lives through music.
