Representatives o fan alien civilisation hale come to the Earth 28 years ago. Without a specific plan about how to organize life of the aliens, people have isolated them in district 9 – a closet getto of Johannesburg. However, the Multi-National United, appointed to it’s supervisory, doesn’t really care about life conditions in the district. Their real aim is to make research on alien’s unusual weapon, and that is why they will have to get their DNA. The young director, Neill Blomkamp’s film had been hailed the “Blade Runner of the 21. century”. The story, adapted from Alive in Joburg, a 2005 short science-fiction film directed by Blomkamp pivots on the themes of xenophobia and social segregation.

Born in RPA, that moved to Canada. Director of music videos and advertisements. He was in charge of teams making advertisements for Nike, Citroen, Panasonic and others. Directed several acclaimed short films, among them Tempbot, awarded at No Spot Shift Film Festival. In 2004 Blomkamp gained title one of five best directors at Watch at the First Boards Awards in Cannes.
