Jurko Koch describes his art as a „metaphysical mannerism”. His leading subject is always the town, in which strange historical, erotic and psychological scenes with grotesque characters emerge. The time and space serve as a plastic material to visualize creative dreams. Real events only inspire the artist to develop unusual and original themes and exhibitions, for example “The Sea” (2009), “Animals playing poker” (2001), or “The Jewish dimension” (2010). Moreover, the author systematically supplements his gallery of human portraits. Regardless of his determined resistance against the influences of modern art, critics claim that Koch remains the most “of Lviv” artist of our times.
