Concert endorphins
29/06/2011
Positive energy and rich sound – that is how you can define the style of MIĄŻSZ (PULP), a group from Lublin. The band’s concerts are an explosion of joy. The Yokel Crew, as they call themselves, has nothing to do with redneck awkwardness. Quite the opposite! Miąższ, while experimenting with poetry, finds diversity in lyrics and music important. Joanna Zawłocka, a promising singer, had the courage to join Karol Gadzała and Sebastian Pikula, musicians known from the ‘Słoma i Przedwietrze’ project. That is how the jazz-punk trio, which will charm the audience on the 1st of August, came to be.
HEMAIL is four heads, eight arms, and as many as forty fingers. Hemail is the Sza/Za duo (Paweł Szamburski, Patryk Zakrocki) and probably the best rhythm section on the Vistula (Ksawery Wójciński, Paweł Szpura); they will meet on the stage of Two Riversides on the 4th of August. The gentlemen use a rich orchestra: from clarinet and mandolin to mbira and violin-trumpet. It is worth giving in to this vivid, exceptional sound and music that cares nothing for divisions between the classical and the modern.
A predatory animal which eats people? Absolutely! With this one difference that on the Świnoujście Beach we will not meet the shark from “Jaws” but a band with a meaningful name LUDOJAD (MAN-EATER). Improvised dance, music between jazz and Romanian folk make the lovers of interesting sound agree to be eaten by these six men. We are confident that on the 2nd of August the Vistula audience will gladly fall into this musical chasm.
