Inspector Amerigo Rogas is considered the best of Italian policemen. He is to pursue the case of a murder committed on a prosecutor, a judge and a court chairman. In course of the investigation Rogas discovers, that the victims were participating in trial that lead to prosecution of three innocent people. In course of the investigation inspector will discover, that this case may be much more sophisticated than he suspected. Illustrious Corpses raises issues characteristic for Sciascia’s novels: corruption of authorities, connections between Mafia and politics, a hero trying to solve a complicated and meaningful puzzle. In his screening Francesco Rossi tries to show the realities of the 70. in Italy, and doesn’t avoid a deeper reflection on these days social reality.

DIRECTOR | Francesco Rosi (1922)
Italian director and writer. War interrupted his law studies. Since 1944 he had worked as a journalist, than theater assistant, and finally started working on a movie plan with Visconti. His feature debut was a Mafia drama The Challenge (1958). His 60. and 70. movies were mostly political, and later on Rosi became more and more inspired by literature. Winner of many prestigious film awards, among them Golden Palm in Cannes 1972 for his film The Mattei Affair.
