Peter Karena, though European, was adopted into a Maori family and is Maori in all but skin. He has his own inner value code. Peter is a hunter, horse-whisperer, philosopher, builder, a husband and father of six children. His wife Colleen sees family as the center of the universe, she is also the keeper of heritage. The film portrays the intimate life of the Karena family, their everyday scenes, the way they raise their children who gradually gain emotional maturity and openness. The Karenas show their way of life, leading to a deeper satisfaction from everyday experiences. A poetical movie takes us into a different reality, where people cultivate life art far away from grand societies.
